 | In honor of a Matriarch leaving a legacy of Life and Love
It is with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Genoveva M Gutierrez , who left us peacefully on April 29th, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished.
Born on November 10th, 1928 to Conception and Humberto Martinez. Lovingly known as ITA she was a Deacon of light, grace, and unconditional love. She spent her life spreading joy and taking care of her loved ones, creating a legacy that will forever live on in our hearts. She was a Deacon of the Holy Cross Church as a servant to God and her community.
She was married to the love of her life, Luis L Gutierrez, for more than 50 years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and the comforting aroma of her cooking. A nurturing soul, she found her greatest happiness in dancing to her favorite la Chona and cooking her favorite recipes that included beans, menudo, and her famous pozole.
She is survived by her children, Alex Gutierrez, and Sergio Gutierrez; her grandchildren, Jose L Jr.Guiterra, Linda Gutierrez, Miguel A Gutierrez, Angelina Gutierrez, Gloria Gutierrez Tellez, Santiago Gutierrez; her great-grandchildren, Valentino X Gutierrez, Rosalie Gutierrez, Veronica Lorta, Jose Gutierrez lll, Mauricio Escobar Jr., Edwin Balero Jr., Brandy Tellez Jr., Ramundo Escobar, Mireya Gutierrez, Daniel Tellez, Miguel A Gutierrez, Alexis Balero, Alejandro Escobar, Santiago Gutierrez Jr., Gloria Silvia, Bernadette Gutierrez, Sergio Gutierrez, Celia Gutierrez, Marcelino Escobar, Maria Vargas, Araceli Gutierrez, Lilliana Gutierrez, Victoria Gutierrez,Alicia Ortez, Raymond Gutierrez, Florian Vargas, Anthony Gutierrez, Florian Vargas, Anabel Vargas, Pablo Escobar, Maximus Gutierrez, Sergio Escobar, Migual Serrato Jr., Christina Escobar, Dominic Gutierrez, Erika Hernandez, Jasmine Serrato, Joseph, Serena, and Steven; Great great grandchildren, Roberto, Xavier Gutierrez, Santino, Marciano, Cataleya, Julian, Noel, Nayeli, Liliana, Analia, Andres, Ivan, And Ezequiel and a vast circle of family and friends who felt her warmth immediately upon meeting her.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, oldest son Jose L Gutierrez, Her granddaughters Maria Luisa, Gutierrez Genoveva Gutierrez, great granddaughter Mary Jane Gutierrez, great grandson Santos Escobar, and great great grandson Benito Escobar.
She was the matriarch of our family, a steady source of strength, wisdom, and love whose legacy lives on through four generations. Her stories were treasures that taught us resilience, and her home was a sanctuary. As we say goodbye, we carry her light with us—a legacy of love that never truly fades.
