Adam Duncan CoenAdam Duncan Coen
June 17, 1988 – May 31, 2026
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our son, Adam Duncan Coen on May 31, 2026 just prior to his 38th birthday. Born on June 17, 1988 in Sacramento, Adam touched the lives of many with his sense of humor, warmth, creativity, curiosity, and outgoing nature. He possessed the kindest disposition imaginable. His gentle nature, humor, love of the outdoors, and enthusiasm for life made him a joy to know. Adam was a devoted husband to Allison Belden Coen and cat dad to their beloved Pixie.

Adam grew up in West Sacramento, forming many lifelong friendships. He received his early education at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School before graduating from Jesuit High School in 2006 and attending college in Santa Barbara. He returned to Sacramento where he thrived in the hospitality field, working for the Hyatt Regency for 10 years. In 2023; after a successful tenure as the Business Operations Manager with the Sacramento Midtown Association, Adam joined the State of California beginning with the California Highway Patrol before his promotion to Staff Services Manager at the Department of Health Care Services.

A gifted athlete, Adam excelled in basketball, soccer, football, and baseball throughout his youth, earning All-Star honors. Adam was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. He loved to play golf with family and friends and his colorful wardrobe with his bright shirts, lively shorts, and signature hats and sunglasses lit up every fairway and brought smiles to everyone he played with. Adam also had a profound love for the outdoors; birding activities and genuinely cherished the time he spent in nature. Adam was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He had a rare gift of building community wherever he found himself.

Adam is survived by his loving parents, Michael (LaVonne) and Mari Lyn; brothers, Ian (Karla), A.J. (Tiffany), and Aaron (Alissa); parents-in-law Jerry and Lindsay Belden; sister-in-law Amy Jeschke (Mark) and his cherished nephews Santiago and Julien, nieces Frida and Eva, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Grandparents; Jack and Janet Coen & Edward and Marilyn Duncan; his Aunt Michelle Coen and Cousin Connor Coen.

During his tenure at the Hyatt, Adam met Allison who became the love of his life. They married in October of 2018 and built a loving life together. Tragically, they both passed away on the same day. Although we will miss them both immensely, we take comfort in knowing they are together forever.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Adam and Allison held on July 17, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Old Sugar Mill, 35265 Willow Avenue, Clarksburg, 95612. In honor of their vibrant spirit, we invite you to dress casually and wear bright and cheerful colors to celebrate their life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choosing in memory of Adam and Allison or to A Living Tribute, an organization allowing you to plant trees in their memory.
