Allison Anne Belden,Allison Anne Belden, August 6, 1984-May 31, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved daughter, Allison Anne Belden, on May 31, 2026, at the age of 41.

Allison was born on August 6, 1984, in Redwood City, CA to Jerry and Lindsay Belden. She grew up in Palo Alto, attending El Carmelo Elementary School, Jordan Middle School, Palo Alto High School and earned a B.A. degree in English from the University of California, Davis. She was an excellent writer of both poetry and prose, earning the nickname of Grammar Nazi because of her strict adherence to the rules of the written word.

The bulk of her working life was with CalPERS, where she worked in various departments. Most recently she was the Supervisor for Board Elections. Just last year she was a recipient of the APEX Award, which honors staff members who have consistently demonstrated performance excellence and embodied CalPERS core values such as quality, respect, accountability, and integrity.

Throughout her life, she dabbled in the typical childhood pursuits, soccer, swim team, ice skating and Girl Scouts. Her first love, though, was reading. In fact, when her mom asked her how her first day of kindergarten was, she replied disappointedly, "Well, it was ok. But we didn't learn to read." Once she did learn to read, she would stay up late, devouring whatever book had currently piqued her interest. She was an "I Love Lucy" fan and displayed her tendency toward quirkiness by being able to recite all of Lucy's Vitameatavegemin speech. Coincidentally, she and Lucy shared the same birthday, August 6th. As an adult, she enjoyed Diamond Art, hiking, biking, true crime mysteries, the New Orleans Saints as well as the 49ers, dancing with her dance team at work, and was an avid TEAMride member. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she would decorate her house inside and out. In fact, she even had a black cat, Pixie, whom she loved dearly.

However, the person she adored most was her husband, Adam Coen, who tragically passed away the same day as Allison. They met while working together at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento and were married in October of 2018. Together they loved good food and drink, outdoor adventures, the Lair of the Bear family camp, and watching the New Orleans Saints play the 49ers, attending several games in both Santa Clara and New Orleans. That was the only time they would root for different teams. Except, of course, if the Warriors were playing the Kings. Now they are together forever.

Allison will be remembered for her intelligence, infectious laugh, cheerful disposition, tenacious work ethic, and her love of family traditions, especially oyster stew on Christmas Eve and plastering bows from the unwrapped Christmas gifts all over her head. We will miss both Allison and Adam immensely and they will be lovingly remembered by all who knew them.

Allison is survived by her loving parents, Jerry and Lindsay, sister Amy Jeschke (Mark) parents-in-law, Michael (LaVonne) Coen and Mari Lyn Kellermann, brothers-in-law Ian (Karla), A.J. (Tiffany), Aaron (Alissa), nephews Julien and Santiago, nieces Eva and Frida, grandmothers Doris Hein and Patricia Belden, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and her beloved cat, Pixie.

She is preceded in death by grandfathers, Ernest Belden, Emmett Hein and Aunt Lisa McGovern. There will be a Celebration of Life for both Adam and Allison on Friday, July 17th, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Old Sugar Mill, 35265 Willow Ave. Clarksburg, CA. In honor of their vibrant spirit, we invite you to dress casually and wear bright and cheerful colors to celebrate their life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite animal rescue group or to A Living Tribute, an organization which allows you to plant trees in Allison and Adam's memory.
