 | Dorothy Rose (Miller) Cumings peacefully passed away on August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched so deeply. She was born on October 21, 1952, in Woodland, California, and was raised in West Sacramento, a community she proudly called home throughout her life.
Dorothy was a woman of unwavering strength, compassion, and resilience. She was the person family and friends turned to for guidance, comfort, and support—a true rock whose steady presence brought peace to those around her. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, accepted, and loved. Her home was always open, as was her heart. Whether someone needed a meal, a place to stay, a listening ear, or simply a hug, Dorothy never hesitated to help. She didn't just make friends—she made family, welcoming countless people into her life as if they had always belonged.
She dedicated many years of service to River City Bank before retiring. Never one to slow down completely, Dorothy continued working part-time at Walmart, where she enjoyed connecting with coworkers and customers alike. Her strong work ethic, kind spirit, and friendly smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Above all else, Dorothy cherished her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating life's milestones both big and small. She took immense pride in watching her family grow and loved creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She also had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, especially her faithful companion, Bella, who remained by her side until the very end.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne Miller and Algan Miller; her brother, Rick (Algan) Miller; her beloved granddaughter, Alexandria Cumings; and her faithful dog, Walle, all of whom she held close to her heart.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Hershel "Honey" Cumings, Sr.; her son, Travis Duboise; her daughter, Trista Duboise (Robbie); her son, Hershel Cumings Jr. (Leticia) And Jamene; her cherished grandchildren, Felicia Duboise (Raven), Cheyenne Duboise (Xavier), Elizabeth Cumings, and Ariella; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Xavier Jr., Cooper, Abel, and Axel. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love, generosity, and friendship.
Dorothy's legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering strength, kindness, and selfless generosity. Though she will be profoundly missed, the lessons she taught, the love she gave so freely, and the countless lives she touched will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and enduring love.
Friends are invited to visit Tuesday, August 11th from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at River Cities Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule Street West Sacramento, CA 956911. Private interment will take place at a later date. |
