Carol Campbell, 82, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, bringing to an end her courageous fight with cancer. A native of Pennsylvania, Carol had been a resident of West Sacramento for nearly 20 years.
Carol was the beloved wife of David Campbell, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Their life together spanned four and a half decades of companionship, shared experiences, and enduring love.
An avid reader, Carol was a devoted Anglophile with a particular fondness for British television. She enjoyed series such as All Creatures Great and Small and Outlander, along with just about any good mystery. She visited the United Kingdom several times and had hoped to return someday. Carol also developed a passion for cross-stitching, spending quiet evenings at home working on various projects.
Carol had a wonderful sense of humor loved by her friends. Her wit, warmth, and ability to share a laugh made her a delightful companion and helped her form lasting friendships throughout her life.
Carol worked for Los Angeles County for 14 years as an Administrative Assistant III in the Department of Public Works.
Throughout their marriage, Carol was a steadfast partner in David's vocation to the permanent diaconate. She participated in his preparation for ordination and continued to support his ministry in the years that followed. She took great pleasure in editing his homilies, offering her time and attention to a ministry they shared in their own way. Her contribution was a cherished part of their life together and a quiet but meaningful expression of her love for David and the Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond "Bim" Lehman and Louretta Lehman. She is survived by her husband, David, and cousins in Pennsylvania and Oklahoma.
In the last few months of her life, Carol embraced the Catholic faith and was deeply grateful to become a member of the Our Lady of Grace parish community. Even before she became a Catholic, she embraced her Guardian Angel. After her long battle with cancer, she has found peace. She will be remembered with love and affection by her husband and extended family.
We are deeply grateful for the prayers, love, and support offered by Fr. Mathew and Fr. Davy, as well as the many friends Carol made throughout her life and during her final journey. She made friends easily, many of whom became lifelong friends. We have been truly blessed by their kindness and support.
May Carol rest in the peace of Christ and enjoy the promise of eternal life.
